The Power of Positive Thinking
A wonderful way to effect behavioral change is through the power of positive thinking. To help train your mind to think positively, consider using affirmations, which are positive statements that you repeat to yourself. Affirmations can be used successfully in all walks of life, including mindful eating. First, start out by writing your affirmations. Once theyʼre written, repeat them to yourself (silently or aloud), and imagine them as if they are already true. You can repeat them to yourself upon arising in the morning, during the day and/or before you go to bed at night. Saying each affirmation 10-20 times is recommended, and itʼs important to work with a small number (approximately five) of them each day, as opposed to a long list of them. In addition to, or instead of repeating them, you can also write each affirmation 10 or 20 times. Itʼs important to pick affirmations that are realistic goals for you to attain.

My body is a perfect ecosystem.
I deserve to have a healthy body.
I am easily aware of my body and mind.
I desire to eat foods that support the health of my body.
I am grateful for my body.
I am mindful of my body.
I listen to my bodyʼs wisdom.
My actions are grounded in compassion for mind, body, and spirit.
My actions support my body and my well-being.
I value my body as a precious gift.
I care for my body.
I treat my body with kindness and compassion.
I picture myself with a vibrant, healthy body.
I only eat when my body is truly hungry.
I choose foods that nurture my body.
When hunger pangs arise, I pause and mindfully take actions that support the health of my body.
Each morning when I awaken, I reflect upon treating my body with love and compassion.
